Connor asked if I could meet him, his boss Karl and his team for dinner on Thursday (March 21, 2019). I told him I didnt think that would be a problem I would just call Mom and Dad to see if they could meet us in Maple Grove and take Kaden to dinner while we were out. I spoke to my mom and of course she said that was no problem! Thursday comes around and after work I was going to meet Connor at Redstone in Maple Grove at 6:30pm. I called Connor on my way and he said he had just met up with my parents and dropped Kaden off with them. He cuts the call short because "Karl" was beeping in. I get to the resturant and am circling the parking lot for a parking spot I finally find one and Connor meets me, we are walking into the resturant and he tells me Karl isnt able make it because he was stuck in a meeting and Ross is out of town at a RV show and Jeff is with his wife downtown so it will just be us tonight...but Karl said to still put it on the company card anyway! We walk into Redstone and go up to the hostess counter Connor says reservations under "Wilson" (Karl's last name) and lets the hostess know there will only be two of us this evening.... I dont think anything at this point. We are joking about what to order and finally decide on our meals. We splurge for a Girl Scout thin mint chocolate cake for dessert. We get our check and are walking out to our cars. As we are approaching Connor's car he says "hey Dan I forgot to give this to you I saw it at the airport and thought you would think it was funny" He hands me a card, on the front of the card is a bed that says "your side" with an arrow pointing to the left side and then it says "my side" with an arrow pointing to the left side. I open up the card and it is a cute little note Connor had written and it ends with "Let's add another anniversary..." I turn to look at him and he is on one knee! Then it all clicks - Connor is parked in the exact same spot we met when we were meeting for our very first date! That we were never meeting Karl and his work team for dinner, that he had already talked to my parents about taking Kaden to dinner. We get back to our house and it is decorated! My Mom, Dad, Kaden, Grandma and Grandpa are all there to celebrate with us! The next day was Friday and Roz was coming to MN to go to a concert - this had been planned for months. I was picking her up from the airport at 11am. Connor is making a comment on how he doesnt want to go to work but has a big meeting at 1pm that he has to attend. I of course am trying to convince him to stay home and hang out with Roz and me. He says he has to go to work, he takes Kaden to school and heads to work. I get ready and head to the airport to pick Roz up. We had planned to meet my brother for lunch before heading out to my work for a "spa day". I pick her up and we decide on a resturant, we call Nick and he says he wont be able to join as he is on a work call. I get a text from one of my co-workers congratulating me on the engagement and she says I should still come in for my appointments today... I am a little confused because we were planning on coming in. I call up to the school to let them know we are still coming for our appointments and am told they were cancelled... I was so confused because I hadn't cancelled them. Jackie gets the schedule rearranged so Roz and I are still able to come in at our original appointment time. Roz and I go to eat and she says we have to stop by Nick's because she forgot her shoes there the last time she was here. So we run over there quick before we are going to be heading out to my work. We go inside and Roz yells from the kitchen "Dani come look at this" -- I've been at Nick's house a million times and am thinking what does she have to show me. I walk in to the kitchen and Aley and Sarah are there to surprise me and celebrate! The Fab 4 are reunited! Again it all clicks - our spa day was supposed to be cancelled - my mom had called the night before and cancelled our appointments. We celebrate with mimosa's and bundt cakes! We then head to the hotel to check in before the concert and I walk in the door and standing there in the lobby is Nicole and Tyler! They had come to celebrate with us as well! We go down the street to grab a bite to eat and a drink and Connor calls saying he just left work and would meet up with us! Gavin and Connor come walking in! His important meeting at 1pm was picking Gavin up from the airport! Connor then informs me that my parents are picking Kaden up from school and taking him for the weekend! We had the best weekend celebrating with our friends and I did not expect any of it! It meant so much to me that everyone kept it a secret and they all made the trip to Minnesota to surprise me and celebrate with me and Connor! |
